Alpspitz

Alpspitz Mountain view from Top Station

One of the things I wanted to do whilst in Garmisch-Partenkirchen was to go up to the Alpspitz, and walk on the overhanging AlpspiX viewing platforms, that take you out over the edge of the mountain, with stunning views around you and great drops below!

I was fortunate to get a great clear and sunny day to do this.  The views up there are amazing.

I went up by cable car direct to the Alpsitzbahn top station ( best in my view to get to the top when the weather is good – it can change quickly in the mountains ).  Had a spot of lunch up there and the walked several times on the AlpspiX platforms – they are great!  Though you do need a head for heights as the drops below you are over 1000 metres.

After lunch I opted to walk down to the Kreuzeckbhan ( the bottom station ) via a winding and good path – missing out the mid cable car.

Almost at the Kreuzeckbahn top station – Zugspitze was in view – albeit in clouds.
