Brownsea Island is a popular spring to autumn tourist attraction in Poole Harbour. The Island is famous for it being the place of the first ever Scout camp, having one of the few surviving Red Squirrel populations in England.
Visiting the Island presents the photograph opportunities to photograph the red squirrels, peacocks and chicken up close, whilst the woodlands also have some deer and of course the trees themselves to shoot. There are some beaches that could be used for some beach/sea photography – but the boats leave early so night / evening shots are out of the question. Visiting the Dorset Wildlife Trusts area, gives access to some boardwalks and several hides that overlook a lagoon where feathered visitors to harbour can be photographed with a suitable lens, and a reed area where other birds and deers can sometimes be sighted.
