Loch Kernsary, Poolewe

Loch Kernsary - Landscape

A walk around Loch Kernsary or even just part way gives the photographer views of the Loch, Local farmland, and the distant Mountains that border Loch Maree. The circuit from Poolewe, Wester Ross, is about 10km long, by far the best part of the circuit walk that I followed – described on WalkHighlands.co.uk – is the first part along the Loch. Here there are obvious Landscape views to take, but in addition in the summer there are a number of dragonflies that can be seen on the wing, as well as the bird life that can be sighted.

The walk down the second half is fairly uninteresting – as its along tarmac path which is mostly tree lined. The end though improves once you reach the River Ewe, but that could be done from the Poolewe end of the walk.

The village itself has a carvan park, some local shops and also a view of a bay, onto “The Minch” or Loch Ewe, that is also photogenic.
