Zugspitze & Lake Eibsee

Zugspitze & Lake Eibsee

This is the final set of images from my trip to Germany.  And these are from Germany’s highest mountain – the summit is 2,962 m above sea level.  But fortunately you don’t have to walk up the mountain, you can either take the train ( not overly interesting as it goes up through a long tunnel ) – or take the Zugspitze cable car up to the top ( it has a glass door you can stand on too!).

From the summit station you can also get a cable car down to the glacier ( as I went late summer there was not much of it left ).

After returning down – fortunate timing on my part as it clouded over – I went for a walk around Lake Eibsee, and this little lake (Lake Frillensee) in a cove around it – looking back at the mountain was very picturesque.
